Volunteer Roles

To enter and view health and social care services and to report back observations to Healthwatch.

Healthwatch has an important statutory power that entitles authorised volunteers to enter and view health and social care services as they are being delivered and to then report back on them.

Healthwatchers

Healthwatchers are our eyes and ears in the community.

We’re recruiting ‘Healthwatchers’ to make sure we are finding out as much about public opinion as we can. We need volunteers to go out in to their communities and talk to their family and friends to gather comments about their experience of using health and social care services. We want to hear about things that are good and things which could be better.

Volunteer Researcher

To help us with our understanding of what high quality health and social care services look like, we need to research what is available, new ideas and examples of good practice. This role involves, designing surveys, secondary data research and data input, social media and monitoring/analysis as well as data analysis – qualitative & quantitative.

A Helping Hand Volunteer

This role is about people helping at Healthwatch events around the Borough, helping with ‘meet and greet’ or refreshments. Supporting us to welcome people into our main offices at The Galleries or Leighway giving information about health and social care services within the Wigan Borough.
