North West Ambulance Service is looking for volunteers to take on the new role of ‘Q Volunteer’ across the Greater Manchester area.
Q Volunteers are matched with those who call emergency services many times and who may be vulnerable, lonely or unsure how to access other services. Q Volunteers provide mentoring, a listening ear and work with the individual to build their resilience, relationships, and strategies for self-management over a set number of sessions. Your role may also involve sourcing practical and longer term social support (such as a befriending service or social group). You will maintain their confidentiality at all times.
The volunteer role would suit those with excellent interpersonal skills, able to volunteer within clear professional boundaries and with an interest in enabling others (perhaps gained through experience in the following fields: teaching, social work, life coaching, occupational therapy, psychotherapy or counselling, mental health and health and social care work.) This role may also be suited to those training in the above occupations and wishing to develop their skills and work experience.
Training and ongoing support for volunteers is provided.
