Thank you for all your incredible efforts to support our communities during this national emergency – and I hope you are all well.

Please forgive me for the distraction at this time but I am reaching out in relation to the production of PPE for health and care colleagues.  I know that a number of our schools and community organisations who have 3D printers and materials have been working hard to provide supplies to health and care organisations across the borough- I know this fantastic gesture of support will be well received.  I have been speaking to health and care leaders across the borough over the weekend and we would want to try and support the co-ordination of such support in a safe and effective way.

To that end, whilst we discuss the appropriate technical specifications, I thought it would be useful for us to develop an inventory of 3D printer availability across the borough.

I would be grateful if you could please confirm the number of available 3D printers you have, the production capacity and any issues in relation to materials.

Once we have a clear sense of the scale of printer availability across the borough – and have agreed any technical and safety specifications to meet need – we will communicate that to you and your teams. I know a number of you are already engaged in supporting the NHS in particular in this way -the intention here is to understand how others may be able to help if appropriate to do so and to co-ordinate resources to areas of greatest needs.

Please can you respond to my PA, Lindsey Carrington ([email protected]) who is copied in to this email.
