£500k to expand CCTV network

Wigan Borough’s CCTV network is set to get a major expansion, thanks to almost £500,000 of investment from the council.

Of the almost £500k investment, £420k has been earmarked for new and upgraded cameras in Wigan, Leigh, Ashton and Pemberton over the coming months.

Meanwhile, a £56k project in Platt Bridge is already operational.

Upgrades made to existing cameras will provide capability to capture high-definition images as well as features to utilise Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
