Work has now started to replace the footbridge Orrell Footbridge which was taken down by Highways England in 2017 following a bridge strike from a passing heavy goods vehicle.
The advance work has started and will be ongoing until 8th May 2020. Work is ongoing from 9pm and 5am, Monday to Friday.
For safety purposes, the A577 link road from the M58 will be closed until this date with diversion routes in place and a reduced speed limit of 30mph will be in place on the A577 link road from the M58 throughout the work.
Main construction work to install the footbridge will follow once this advance work is complete and will be ongoing until 29th September 2020. This will take place during daytime hours, however on occasion there will be some element of overnight work as well.
Further overnight closures will be required to install the footbridge
