A reminder that you are invited to the next Big Active Conversation – taking place in Wigan on 19 July.
The GM Big Active Conversation is a series of quarterly stakeholder gatherings, hosted by TfGM and GM Moving partners – including Wigan Council.
The gatherings bring people and partners from across Greater Manchester together to share and explore progress, stories, challenges and expertise as we work to make our city-region a better place for everyone to walk, cycle, wheel and get around actively.
You can sign-up to attend via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-big-active-conversation-live-from-wigan-tickets-371937594357
We can now announce the workshops that will form a key part of the day – with these outlined in the table below.
We are asking people to select their workshop preference via: https://forms.office.com/r/4x7LDABCnP –
If you do not indicate a preference, you may be allocated to workshops based on availability.

|Insights from the GM Cycling and Walking Index||This workshop will look at the recently released Walking & Cycling Index and other local data sets and consider what the data reveals about walking and cycling in our region. How can this data improve our understanding and help us to create an environment that enables more people to make journeys by walking, wheeling or cycling.|
|Travel to school||This workshop will present the picture across GM and approaches being taken to enable more children to walk, wheel and cycle to school, including School Streets. The session is open to all, those wanting to know more about School Streets or with experience supporting active travel interventions. The workshop is a chance to learn more about setting up School Streets in your area, and sharing challenges and opportunities around active travel, to help us raise the ambition to get more children and young people active on the journey to school.|

|Engaging our Communities||Join this workshop to hear key feedback from the Destination Bee Network engagement – what did people tell us they want and need from an integrated transport network across Greater Manchester. We want to hear your thoughts on how we can further build on these findings. Are there opportunities to work with local communities to support people to make more sustainable travel choices? How can we best provide inclusive and accessible engagement opportunities for all residents and transport users? Tell us your views to help inform development of our integrated, inclusive transport system – designed for Greater Manchester, by Greater Manchester.|
|A walking/wheeling perspective on a local route||This 45 minute workshop offers the opportunity to experience the challenges and opportunities for creating safe, attractive and inclusive walkable environments using a 1.5 mile circular route from the venue. The walk will include examples of old infrastructure, improvements for people walking and wheeling or traveling on bike, and discussions on the challenges we face in our motor vehicle dominated environment. This is an inclusive walking route suitable for wheelchairs. Please bring suitable footwear and dress for the weather conditions|
