Last year the council launched the Our Town campaign to celebrate our towns and the people who make them great.
We want to update you on progress and let you know how you can get involved as there will be activity in your district over the next few weeks.
During the Big Listening Projects, residents identified town centres and environmental issues as a key priority. Using the feedback, a thorough audit was undertaken of each district centre to identify improvements. As a result each district will receive a ‘cleaner, greener package’ of environmental works. The package includes replacement bins and additional bins, repainting and replacing street signs and benches, new or improved street lighting and repainting road markings, a deep clean, including jet-washing, weeding and pruning to tidy up the streets.
The cleaner, greener works will be in Ince from w/c 30th March – w/c 13th April and there will be a high presence of council staff and volunteers in the area.
If your group would like to join them and get involved in the clean-up please email [email protected]
If you know of particular projects or grotspots that the volunteers could tackle, from painting to cleaning, please send us your suggestions so that the volunteer programme can be tailored to the needs of your district.
There will also be a marketplace event in Ince on Monday 30th March where staff will be promoting a variety of local services. Please come along and speak to staff to find out more about the programme.
From w/c 9th March – w/c 30th March the business engagement team will be supporting businesses in the local area and promoting the Business Booster fund. The team will also be identifying any empty or vacant shops and trying to establish contact with the owners to discuss potential investment to improve appearance for potential future use. The Vacant Property Scheme will support any investment required.
An events fund has now launched which is available to community groups to hold events or street parties in their district centre.
The criteria and details of how to apply are here on the council’s website. Please share this with your residents and encourage them to apply.
We have attached the Our Town logos for your district, please feel free to share them on your social media channels and across your networks to promote any good news in your area.
