Adult Services Update

Care Homes:
It is really encouraging to see that 43 out of our 52 Care Homes are COVID-19 free
9 care homes affected today as follows: 2 homes have symptomatic residents in the home and hospital; 6 homes have symptomatic residents in the home only; 1 home has symptomatic residents in hospital only. 87 care home residents currently either symptomatic or diagnosed with Covid-19: 82 in care homes, 5 in an acute setting.

WWL still under pressure due to A&E attendance & also high number of positive cases.

Vaccines are now starting to arrive in the borough.  The latest information from the hospital is that vaccines will arrive on the 15th December for over 80s that live in their own home. The hospital are expecting to receive a small amount of vaccines week commencing 21st December for at risk staff, over 80s and care home staff. The number of vaccines we will have access to is limited to 150 so we will be prioritising how they are used.

There is still a secure stock of PPE in Wigan and there are no issues with our supply thanks to the Council procuring supplies, NWADAS and national supplies delivery. Now responding to requests from Primary care for emergency supplies and supported CCG with delivery of FFP3 masks to CHC community
