Astley & Tyldesley were narrowly beaten in two challenge matches at Hull on Sunday.

In the 1st team match, Reece Pollitt rode to an excellent 24 points maximum score for A&T, with strong support from Pierce Bacon and Steve Harris. However, it was a more solid scoring Hull team, who took the match win, 94-86. The scores were close up to heat 9, before the home side took the only 7-3 heat win of the match, to open up an eight points lead. A&T provided 13 of the 18 race winners, but also 16 of the 18 last places.

In the 3rd team challenge match, Duncan Whalley and Oscar Belt both rode to 16 points maximum scores for A&T. Despite their efforts, Hull’s numerical advantage of young riders saw them run out 59-57 winners.

Reece Pollitt scored 16 points, to finish 4th in the Open Age category of the Derek Hilton Memorial meeting at Hull on Saturday. Birmingham’s Chris Timms won the event with a 20 points maximum score. Steve Harris scored 13 points, to finish in 8th place. Duncan Whalley took the win in the u-14 category.
