Residents who think they have what it takes to become a local councillor are being invited to an event this week.
Wigan Council is opening its doors on Wednesday 5th February and Thursday 6th February and holding two informal sessions for anyone who might be interested in standing for election to the council in May 2020 or any future election.
There will be the chance to learn more about the role of a local councillor and the route to becoming a candidate.
Coun Chris Ready, cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “If you’ve got an interest in local politics and have considered becoming a local councillor we’d love you to come along and find out more.
“Current elected members and council staff will be on hand to talk you through the process of standing in an election and can tell you what to expect if you’re successful.
“We’ll also talk about difference you could make in your community and the opportunities you could have.”
If you’re interested come along to one of the sessions on
Wednesday 5th February at 5.30pm at Wigan Town Hall
or Thursday 6th February at 5.30pm at Compassion in Action building in Leigh.
