Wigan Council’s website is one of the best in the country for user experience a national independent survey has found. The survey of council websites is carried out annually by Socitm Better Connected.
Out of 414 UK council websites, just 41 have been awarded 4 stars overall for “very good user experience”, including Wigan Council’s website.
Wigan Council has adopted a ‘digital first’ approach to enable residents to engage with services digitally including the successful MyAccount service. With more than 125,000 residents signed up, MyAccount allows people to check their council tax, pay a bill and report an issue to the council online through their own personal account.
The analysis by Better Connected involves four task based surveys and Wigan’s included; finding out about services for elderly relatives staying at home, finding childcare and putting out your rubbish as well as testing site navigation, accessibility for visitors with disabilities and suitability for use on a mobile device.
