The Government announced on 9th December that book clubs, walking groups and other community projects will be able to apply for a £4 million fund designed to help reduce loneliness in the coming months.  The Local Connections Fund is designed to help local organisations bring people and communities together as the country recovers from the coronavirus outbreak.Announcement:

Crowdfunding Opportunity – Crowdfunder and Sport England have teamed up to make £1 million of match funding available to help the sport and physical activity sector through the ongoing coronavirus crisis.  If your sports club has had to cease operations due to the ongoing pandemic and in doing so is experiencing short term financial difficulty, follow the link below to start setting up a crowdfunding campaign and apply for up to £10,000 match funding today. There is also an option for people to register their interest to attending a workshop or find out more information.

In terms of changes here are the main ones to be aware of:

  • Wigan Council will pledge up to 25% of the project target to a maximum of £1,000.
  • Offline Crowdfunding can be uploaded to your Crowdfunding page however proof can be requested of this.
  • Targets over £1,000 will require a minimum of 20 different supporters to receive match funding.
  • Projects must align with at least one of the council’s #BeKind campaign priorities:
