This event will help to connect people who care about the lives of young people who are at risk of offending or are offending. Keynote speakers from GM Violence Reduction Unit, Loughborough University, StreetGames and Greater Sport will share the thinking about how best community sport can contribute to violence reduction through educational settings, community led approaches, health and criminal justice systems.

The event will:

• Recognise and value the work undertaken and challenges faced by community sport providers due to Covid-19

• Help delegates understand the latest data based on strategic needs assessment across GM and how this informs the work of the VRU

• Share the most up to date evidence base for effective sports based intervention

• Connect the 4 thematic delivery groups (education/community led/health/criminal justice) of the VRU with community sport providers

• Outline how to build more effective local connections across 2021/22 and explore the support required
