Holiday Activity and Food Programme


Funding for 2022

On 27 October 2021 the government announced a further investment of over £200 million per year over the next 3 financial years for the holiday activities and food (HAF) programme, which follows the successful roll out of the programme across England in 2021.

Who can apply?

The programme is available to any public, private or voluntary sector organisation that provides childcare provision in school holidays for children aged between 5 and 16 years of age (see guidance on webpage, details can be found below).

What is it?

Overall, local authorities are expected to offer the equivalent of 6 weeks’ holiday provision to children and young people eligible for benefit-related free school meals. We are looking for Providers that are willing to offer provision during some or all of the following school holidays:

  • Easter
  • Summer
  • Christmas

When can I apply?

The fund will initially open at 9am on Monday 7th March and will close at midnight on Sunday 27th March

How much can I apply for?

For organisations wishing to apply for all holidays in a calendar year you can apply for up to £100,000k. If you have the capacity to deliver a larger scheme please contact the Wigan HAF Team direct by email
