Manchester City of Sanctuary Recruitment
Manchester City of Sanctuary is a small charity with a big heart and a big reach! Established in 2011, we became registered charity in 2016 and we run a community-driven programme promoting positive mental health and wellbeing for refugees and asylum seekers at the individual level, and work to facilitate integration and social cohesion at a community level. Our mission is to use the lived experience of our staff, advisory board and volunteers to create a more inclusive and welcoming city for those seeking sanctuary.
We regularly work with over 100 people seeking sanctuary from more than 18 countries, have a diverse group of 15 volunteers from an intergenerational and multinational background, an active advisory group made up of people with lived experience who directly feed into decision making, and partner with a wide range of organisations and public bodies to ensure that we continue to provide relevant, meaningful and engagement connection that improves people’s lives.
We are expanding our team to ensure we continue to work with those who need our support most, as well as widen our reach to include those who have joined our city more recently from Afghanistan and Ukraine.
