The annual Good Trader awards have been announced with many local traders being recognised for their excellent service to residents.
Wigan Council’s Good Trader Scheme was set up in 2008 by Trading Standards, to promote local businesses who are trusted and respected in their field of work and who are committed to treating their customers fairly and honestly.
It also gives residents an alternative to dealing with rogue traders who often “cold call”.
The Good Trader Scheme have over 170 members, from a range of different sectors, who were all judged on the quality of customer feedback they have generated in the last 12 months
The six Good Trader of the Year for 2019 winners were:
•Winner (Wigan) – Advanced Fencing & Gates Limited
•Winner (Leigh) – Gary Sanderson Carpets & Vinyls
•Highly Commended (Wigan) – Case & Young Limited
•Highly Commended (Leigh) – A & J Kitchen Fitters
•Best Newcomer (Wigan)- DA Electrical Services
•Best Newcomer (Leigh)- Vitreous Windows.
Julie Middlehurst, group manager for regulatory services, said: “It’s extremely important to recognise our local traders who work hard to provide a high-quality service to residents. The Good Trader scheme also plays an important part in protecting our most vulnerable residents from becoming a victim of doorstep crime within our borough, and it a key part of The Deal.
“Congratulations to all the winners and runner ups but also not forgetting every single one of our Good Trader Scheme members who provide first class work to our local people.”
