VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR A MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT SERVICE IN WIGAN AND LEIGH
Volunteers are needed for a new Macmillan Cancer Support service in Wigan and Leigh supporting people with cancer.
People with cancer tell us they need local support during their cancer journey and our Practical and Emotional Support volunteers are able to make a difference by volunteering in their local community and doing something amazing for people at a difficult time.
The person being supported identifies the support most useful to them but it can include:
Visiting someone for an hour or two a week for a cup of tea and a chat, being a listening ear can be a huge support to someone living with cancer.
Practical support, such as, popping to the shops or driving to an appointment
We are looking for volunteers who;
- Are great listeners, this can be a really important part of the role.
- Respect the differences and choices of others.
- Have a flexible approach and will ask for support when needed.
We know that more than one in three of us will get cancer at some points during our lives. Now, more than ever, we need volunteers to join our team and support people who may be facing the toughest fight they ever face. The time you give volunteering with Macmillan can really make a huge difference
This opportunity is available Monday – Friday between 9am and 7.30pm
Full training and support will be provided.
