This week’s Covid-19 tracker for the borough shows: Office for National Statistics survey data suggests that the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 remained high and increased in the North-West, along with several other regions. As at 11 April, there were 71 COVID-positive patients in Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh hospitals, an increase from this time last week. A message from our public health team: Following the discontinuation of universal free testing as part of the national Living With Covid plan, we have removed the sections based on cases and rates for Wigan Borough as they no longer accurately reflect the incidence of Covid-19 in our communities. Please continue to wash hands or sanitise regularly, wear a mask in crowded public places, sanitise frequently touched places in the home, and open windows occasionally to let in some fresh air. These small actions will help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus. Being fully vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself from the most serious effects of Covid-19. |
