A massive thank you to Hindley resident Matthew Kirkpatrick who has donated £260 to our short breaks centre for children with complex needs on Ladies Lane.
Matthew had been training for the Manchester half marathon and when it was cancelled earlier this year he decided he didn’t want his efforts to go to waste.
He said;”I was looking for inspiration to complete the half marathon myself and decided I would do it to raise money for my local community.
“I live round the corner from the centre but wasn’t sure what went on there so I got in touch. This is a fantastic resource for children and their families and I was glad to help them out.Doing this has inspired me to do more things for my community as it has meant such a lot to the organisation.”
Centre Manager, Judith Birchall, received the money from Matthew with staff Kathryn Bowen and Kelly Thornley.
Judith said;”This is so heartwarming and generous.
“People often don’t realise what services there are in their local community so Matthew’s gesture has really helped us to feel valued and we appreciate it so much.”
The centre will be putting the money towards buying specialist lighting for the young people’s sensory room.
