The Village Art Gallery @ Shevington Library is delighted to open its’ doors again after the recent ‘lockdown’ enforced closure. Our first exhibition will be for a shorter period of time than normal as the Gallery only opens to the public on the 14th September. We have two artists exhibiting with us during September; Richard James Benbow will be displaying his paintings on our gallery walls and Phil Jones’s photographs are on display in our cabinets

Richard James BENBOW
The study of landscape through deep topography and reference to satellite maps informs my work during lockdown. Short walks for exercise act as a dérive allowing me to become intimate with my local surroundings. Acrylic paint is my medium and lyrical abstraction is my methodology.
|Phil Jones, (ARPS : ASINWP)|
Having lived most of his life in Orrell, Phil is now retired and lives in Standish. He enjoys photography in general but particularly loves wildlife photography. Needing something to fill a hole in his life when he stopped playing Rugby about 10 years ago and other sports more recently, he took up photography more seriously. He is a member of a couple of local camera clubs and has gained qualifications with two of the major Photography Societies in the country. He is currently putting together a panel of work to be assessed for a Fellowship.
