Volunteer Trustee

Are you passionate about communities?

Douglas Valley Community Ltd is looking to recruit 4 Volunteer Trustees to complement the skills of our existing Board.

We are looking to recruit 2 Trustees to represent the borough’s Community Sector and 2 Trustees to represent the borough’s Business/Enterprise sector.

Douglas Valley Community is a Wigan based organisation.  Registered with the Charity Commission as a Company Limited by Guarantee, Douglas Valley Community has been supporting the borough’s community organisations to manage and run community buildings since 1994. We believe in the principles of self-help and local action for local problems.

Specialising in Community Centre Management and Community Asset Transfer, our work is aimed at inspiring and supporting local groups and organisations and helping them to grow and thrive. We work in partnership with a range of partners across the borough, including Wigan Council, Wigan Development Company, Wigan Borough Community Partnership, the Borough-wide Community Network and many more organisations from the community and voluntary sectors.

There are lots of benefits to becoming a trustee of Douglas Valley Community, including enhancing your CV, building social and professional connections and the challenge of being involved in something completely new. As a Trustee you will gain satisfaction from knowing that you will be helping to improve and sustain our valuable community assets in the Wigan borough.

Board meetings are normally held six times a year at various Community Centres across the borough. Trustees are also invited to Douglas Valley Community’s events and conferences. Douglas Valley Community Ltd. is committed to creating a diverse board and would welcome applications from a broad range of individuals.

If you would like to use your skills and experience at Board level to assist us with our work, we very much look forward to hearing from you.
