Walking, Wheeling and Cycling opportunities for you!

With so many Walking, Wheeling and Cycling opportunities on offer across the Wigan Borough over the next few months, I thought I would drop you all an email with an update.

In addition to our extensive day to day walking and cycling offer and community projects (Activities and sports (wigan.gov.uk)) we have four key events coming up:

Cycle Three Sisters

On Tuesday 7th May we held the first of this years two cycling festivals at Three Sisters Race Circuit in Ashton. The event was a huge success with around 700 visitors enjoying the event. Our next event takes place during the school holidays on 23rd July and will again provide an opportunity to cycle on the 1 mile race circuit. Other activities available include a balance bike circuit, cycle skills for children, wheels for all, free bike hire, a free Dr Bike service, our climbing wall and much more. To find out more check out the attached flyer or visit Cycle Three Sisters (wigan.gov.uk)

Big Wigan Walk Week

Join us for the return of the Big Wigan Walk Week (25th May – 2nd June), our borough-wide celebration of the joys and benefits of walking.

We have around 50 free walks/events planned over the course of nine days – including nature-themed strolls around our beautiful local green spaces and walking routes of historical interest.

Walks have been planned to suit all ages and abilities, from relaxed and inclusive 30-minute strolls to longer routes that may require more stamina.

Check out our full timetable below to find a walk near you!

Tour of Britain Ladies

We’re proud to reveal that we will be hosting the conclusion of the Tour of Britain Ladies cycle race on Sunday 9th June at Leigh Sports Village.
