The annual household registration letters will be sent to more than 140,000 homes in Wigan Borough from today.

Residents are being reminded to complete and return the forms as early as possible to ensure they don’t receive a reminder in September.

Your Household Enquiry Form shows the names of people registered to vote at your address.

You should check the form carefully and confirm either that there are no changes, or make the changes required.

All households are legally required to respond to the Household Enquiry Form.

Households where their information is correct can respond quickly and easily either online or by phone, responses need to be completed by the 3rd of September.

If residents are posting their Household Enquiry Form this needs to be returned no later than the 27th of August.

Residents who need to change information on the electoral register need to respond either online or by returning their form by post.

Donna Hall, Chief Executive and Electoral Registration Officer at Wigan Council, said: “By law every household must respond. It is so important that everyone who is eligible makes sure they are on the Electoral Register.

“It’s vital that residents make sure they are signed up as the Electoral Register is used for credit checks and if you are not on the register you may find it harder to get a loan, mortgage, finance agreement or even a mobile phone contract.

“It’s really easy and quick to complete and as part of The Deal we encourage as many people as possible to have their say by making their voice heard at the ballot box.”

To register by phone call 0800 197 9871 or online by visiting www.householdresponse.com/wigancouncil quoting the two part security codes listed on your Household Enquiry Form.
