Wigan Autistic Theatre Company presents ….

Wigan Autistic Theatre Company are proud to present their debut performance of ‘Wheeler Fortune’ and you’re invited! World autism day is celebrated worldwide on 2nd April so show your support and step into the world of this thrilling new comedy.

Wigan Autistic Theatre Company (WATC) was set up by Martin Spencer and Sammy Holden in June 2019 with the hope of creating an inclusive theatre company to make a difference in the local area. Having autism himself, Martin knew the potential struggles of finding the confidence to join a theatre company and having the confidence to perform in a piece of theatre, so he created a solution.

The company have 8 cast members who will all be partaking in the debut show ‘Wheeler Fortune’.

Supported by The Old Courts, where the show will be performed, Wheeler Fortune was written by Martin over 16 years ago to contribute to part of his GCSE grade and has since been adapted and improved for the company. The piece is set in the year 2026 and Wigan has grown into a thriving city, the play follows the Wheeler family as they are plucked from their ordinary lives into a not so ordinary game show. Described as a thrilling new comedy this is not a night to miss out on!

The Bailiff Bar here at The Old Courts will be hosting a press launch night on 18th March at 7:30pm and you’re invited!

WATC and Wheeler Fortune are both strongly supported by The Old Courts with one member of staff quoting ‘’It’s truly amazing what Martin’s achieved with his vision and what he’s offering to the community. We’re all very excited about the show’’ Zak Bretherton, Senior Graphic Designer.

Martin Spencer, founder of WATC and playwright states that ‘’For Wheeler Fortune to be the first show for WATC to perform it is a dream come true and I want my successes to be inspirational to those with autism and I want this to be a message to say don’t stop believing’’
