COVID-19 VACCINE
 On our last newsletter we shared the news that the UK Government authorised the first COVID vaccine, developed by Pfizer/BioNTechon.

Those of you who keep an eye on our Wigan Borough CCG social media accounts will have seen that the first vaccination clinics have taken place in the borough this week for people aged 80 years and over
You can find the most up to date information about the COVID-19 vaccination programme on the NHS England website.

ISOLATION PERIOD 
The government have reduced the isolation period to 10 days for people without symptoms. This means that all isolation periods are now 10 days.

KEEPING WELL THIS WINTER 
In an effort to support older people this winter, a booklet has been created and distributed that gives positive and practical advice on keeping well this winter.

Calling all parents and parents-to-be! We want your help to improve maternity services and support in Wigan Borough.

DO YOU HAVE DIABETES?
We are working with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust and local GP practices to review Diabetes services to see if there is a way we can work better together to improve services for patients. We need input from patients to help shape this work and you can get involved in the following ways
Join an upcoming focus group
We will be holding a focus group online for any patients who want to talk to us in more detail about diabetes services and what they think we might improve. This will take place on 10th January 2021, 10am – 12noon. If you are interested in taking part please let us know and we will book you on.

 DIABETIC EYE SCREENING SERVICE SURVEY
Are you a patient of the Greater Manchester Diabetic Eye Screening Service?
 We have received notice that Inhealth Intelligence (the provider of this service) are currently undertaking a public consultation around how they will deliver the service in the future. They would like feedback by 11th January 2021

Only 3% of people suffering from harmful gambling either seek or are referred for treatment. This means millions of men and women, young and old, are suffering in silence – or not so silently causing harm to their loved ones, friends and colleagues

NEW APP TO REFLECT AND HELP LIVES IMPACTED BY DEMENTIA 
People living with dementia in Greater Manchester and their carers are now being offered a free app that will help people share their experiences of the condition.
Gaining a better understanding of the day-to-day lives of those affected by dementia will help us to improve the current support on offer.
The app, known as Greater Moments, is also seeking out the positive parts of life, looking at the importance of friendships, thoughts, feelings and concerns.
