VACCINATION PROGRAMME UPDATE

From Saturday 6th March, patients aged 56 – 59 (in priority group 8) will receive a letter from NHS England inviting them to book an appointment at one of the local nationally run vaccine clinics.

We continue to work through people aged 16 – 65 in an at risk group (priority group 6) and those aged 65 years and above who have not yet had their vaccine. We are getting a high number of queries so please bear with us and wait for us to contact you when it’s your turn.

WHAT THIS MEANS

If you are aged 56 – 59 (priority group 8)
You will receive a letter from NHS England inviting you to book an appointment at one of the local nationally run clinics. If you are able to we would strongly encourage you to take up an appointment at one of the national clinics even if you have to travel a little further than you may like. However, if you are housebound or you are unable to get to the location of the local nationally run clinics, please don’t worry, we will be in touch when we have a vaccine available for you, but this could be a number of weeks.

If you are aged 60 – 65 (priority group 7)
You should have received a letter from NHS England earlier this week inviting you to book an appointment at one of the local nationally run clinics.

If you are aged 16 – 65 in an at risk group (priority group 6)
We are continuing to invite people from this group for a vaccine when we have one available. People in this group have an underlying medical condition that puts them at greater risk. There are over 50 thousand people eligible in this group in Wigan Borough so it will take us a number of weeks to get through everyone. Please don’t worry if you don’t get the call right away. If you think you may be eligible in priority group 6 you can check the list of conditions on our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

If you are aged 65 years +
If you are aged 65+ and https://healthierwigan.nhs.uk/covid-19-vaccination-faqs/ didn’t action your letter or have changed your mind about having the vaccine please don’t worry, you can still book your appointment. You can call 119 or visit www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine.

WAITING ON YOUR 2ND VACCINATION?
Your 2nd vaccination will be given up to 12 weeks after your first. Your primary care team will contact you to arrange this, if you have not heard from them by week 11 please contact your practice. If you have been to a national site e.g. The Etihad this will have been booked when you received your first jab.

Please continue to follow government advice on social distancing even if you have been vaccinated.

HAVE YOU USED NHS 111 IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS?

If you’ve called 111 or visited 111.nhs.uk within the last 3 months we’d love to hear from you about what happened. We want to know if it went well and you got what you needed or if you think we could have improved your experience in any way.

Sharing your experience will help the local NHS encourage residents to use the NHS 111 service and access the right care from the right place.

If you do have an experience to share you can do this by completing our quick form. Or if you’d prefer to speak to someone please get in touch with Rachel Richardson via [email protected] or 01942 482711
