Wigan Council is aiming to publish a weekly COVID-19 surveillance tracker on their website so the public can clearly see Wigan Borough’s position in relation to the virus. NEW GUIDANCE FOR SHIELDING AND VULNERABLE PEOPLE
Have you or your loved on been shielding? The government has set out steps to relax shielding guidance from 6 July. Stay up to date with the latest government advice. This includes:
- Clinically extremely vulnerable people will be able to meet outdoors in groups of up to six people they do not live with, while maintaining social distancing
- people shielding who also live alone or in a single-parent household can create a ‘support bubble’ with one other household, following the same rules that apply to the public now
Further relaxing of restrictions for shielded people are planned for 1 August, keep up to date with the latest information on the Government Website.
NHS COVID-19 REHABILITATION SERVICE
NHS England have announced the launch of an online COVID-19 rehabilitation service, expanding rehabilitation treatments for those who have survived the virus but continue to struggle with breathing, mental health problems or other complications. Find out more about the service here!
NHS SOUTH LANCASHIRE BREAST SCREENING SERVICES
NHS South Lancashire Breast Screening have resumed there services and will be starting to contact eligible women, inviting them to a screening examination. Procedures have been put in place around COVID-19.
UPDATE ON GUIDANCE FOR CHILDREN SHIELDING
The government have announced that the majority of children currently considered extremely clinical vulnerable to coronavirus (COVID-19) will be able to be removed from the shielded patient list after July, following consultation with the child and their family. Children should continue to shield until 31st July and continue to follow the latest government guidance.

WIGAN & LEIGH DOMESTIC ABUSE HELPLINE
Operational from Monday 6th, the helpline is being run in partnership between DIAS and Well Women Centre in Leigh. Call anytime between 7am and 7pm to speak to staff who can provide practical and emotional support, free and confidentially.
WIGAN COUNCIL VIRTUAL COFFEE AND CHAT
Wigan Council are holding virtual drop in sessions for people with Learning Disability and/or Autism. The sessions are to enable people who may be feeling isolated to connect online in a safe, friendly space. For more info or to book email [email protected] or call 07920 081866.
LEIGH WALK-IN-CENTRE IS HERE FOR YOU
Leigh Walk-in-Centre is open every day 7am-9pm and is available to visit if you have an injury or illness, including breaks and sprains. Save A&E for when you really need it and go here if you can.
