We wanted to ensure that you’re aware of a service available to our residents to support them through the Coronavirus pandemic so that, where appropriate, you can signpost this to them.
We have set up a new dedicated helpline and digital offer to support vulnerable residents with contact centre telephony staff taking calls and signposting vulnerable residents to relevant community groups for additional support if they have no one else to turn to.
Community hubs have been set up across the borough led by Service Delivery Footprint (SDF) Managers and voluntary networks so that residents can be referred if they are self-isolating and need local support.
Staff from across the council are being asked to work differently and have been re-deployed to community hubs as needed.
Postcards were delivered approximately two weeks ago to residents across the borough that already receive an assisted bin collection and may be unable to access the support they need.
Requests for support can be made by completing our ‘Self-isolation Welfare Support’ form at www.wigan.gov.uk/bekind or by calling our helpline on 01942 489018
The dedicated helpline and web form have been widely publicised however we wanted to ensure that you had this information and could share with the residents that you support as appropriate.
