With lockdown rules eased some community groups have started thinking about restarting their group’s meetings after several months of being unable to. However, there is concern regarding the number of members who will be willing to return without reassurance regarding their safety and the cost of providing it which will involve purchasing items such as hand sanitiser, anti- bacterial wipes, masks, gloves etc., to keep everyone safe.
Wigan Rotary Club has therefore launched a ‘Dragons Den’ style event for groups looking for a donation of items such as those mentioned above. Local groups based in postcode areas WN1, WN3, WN5, WN6 are invited to submit their request. Following initial consideration those groups selected will receive a donation of the items most appropriate for their groups needs.
Wigan Rotary Club President Rosemary Charles said ‘ In these difficult times when we are all having to tighten our belts, I am sure there are local groups in the Wigan area who could really use a donation of items such as those mentioned above to help them.’
Bids for items up to a value of £100 will be considered and Rosemary continued ’the Application Form and criteria are on our website and we don’t expect a person trained in form filling to complete it, we want to hear from members of the group.’ The website is www.wiganrotaryclub.org.uk or ring 07813 471000 if you have any queries.
The closing date for entries is 4th August, so do not delay in down loading the documents or contacting us.
